So I don't believe I was 480 anymore. I am currently 447.2. This weight is above the scale's range (supposedly), so it may be uncertain. If I was up to 480, then that would have been 32.8 pounds in 5 days. Crazy.
However, it is also 20 pounds from the doctor visit official weigh-in, which is also impressive if I do say so myself. It is water weight, obviously. But every pound counts!
MFP now says 4300 kcal/day. Potato diet for the next 12 days will leave me with a 6*163 = 978 calorie ingress, which is a 3322 cal net expenditure per day! Still almost a pound per day ~ 6 pounds per week. I will start weighing myself every day now anyway, so I should be able to get a live read-out. 6 pounds per week puts me at 8 weeks until I am back below 400. Stay motivated!
Exactly 16 weeks until Christmas. I will weigh approximately 360 then! I hope I do and that it impresses my friends and family. It will still be 50 pounds from the obese level but it will have been over 20% of my starting weight, which is usually sold as a boon to your health.
I still think about going off the diet in some fashion at home. Enjoy all the Christmas goodies. It's a long way off. Stay motivated!
So I broke the diet last night anyway. I was given a sample of the chili mocha at Starbucks. It was a little sample cup. It was wayyy too sweet. I don't think it was too bad to do that. Definitelly not in the spirit of the potato phase though.
BP Meds: I have something like 4 pills left. I am planning on halving them and taking them during the school day. I will be out soon. This might be irresponsible for my health. But as I stay on a low-sodium, plant-based diet my BP should naturally be lower. This is doubled by losing weight. I hope it will be fine.
Has it been hard? Not really. Not eating the free food at school was tough. Christine repeatedly kept asking, "what's wrong with you." I think it was her way of showing she cared. I also missed having lunch with the department. It will be easier when I can eat vegan (though Gress will be right to call me a vegan then . . .). I did go with them to Friday, where Jeff made some tasty looking pulled pork :-(. SO I got to be social without it.
The other hardest thing is that I've been getting like a sour stomach at night before I eat. But that hasn't been too bad at all. Warmed up potatoes are so much worse than fresh baked potatoes. I'm not sure how much longer my 9 pounds of potatoes will last. I just read that cool and dark. But my apartment will be anything less than cool the next few days. Sigh
Christine and Alex bought a house! And I am the first choice to live there. I pretty much said I would rent it for 1400 per month. 60 cheaper than my current place. The catch is, to break my current lease I have to pay another whole month's rent, so 2920 just to live and leave on Sept 30. Sigh. Christine says I would not pay October rent to her. Then I would slowly recoup the payment by increasing the rent for other months when I can. I think it will work. I need to clean and box up shit. Sigh.
Americans: Season 3 has sold me that this is a fantastic show. It has been good and draws me in but the conflict in the last two seasons has been so good. I am hoping that season 4 is easy to watch and keeps this up.
Back to School - Tomorrow is the first day back with students. I am pretty stressed out. About to head into school to do some more work on first day things. Need to print some HW. Check some slides. Check my projector. Real nervous. They were talking about increasing me to a 1.2 schedule. No word on that yet. I am assuming it fell through.
Date: I have a date on Wednesday night! That should be fun. Estefanny mentioned that it was near Rubio's where we could go eat if we are hungry. That would be way off diet. Not sure how off putting it would be if I said "I don't want to eat, but I'll sit with you while you eat." I'm looking forward to meeting her, she seems excited about meeting me. I hope it goes well. She is cuter than Liz . . .

Day 1 - 8.24.2016
Lots of annoying stuff today.
Anyway, let's add this quick: 14 potatoes cost $9. Even if I eat 7 (see below), that is $4.50 per meal. Pretty good news.
I am going to try to eat five potatoes per day, but not going to limit it. I am not going to count calories. But . . . each potato is about 160 calories. So 5 potatoes is 800 calories. This will be a severe calorie restriction.
My weight before my trip home, on Friday 8/12, was measured to be 467.8. This was with clothes and sandals on. Myfitnesspal is confusing me. It thinks this weight was recorded on 2/01/16. Maybe it was. Maybe my current weight today is 480. I am typing that in myfitnesspal now. This assumes that over the week I gained 12.2 pounds. Probably unreasonable.
Anyway, I told MFP I was lightly active (since I spend most of the day on my feet). At 480, with this level of activity MFP thinks my BMR is 4500. A calculator that didn't take into account activity suggests 3800.
Using the doctor weight, and a (lower) estimate height of 6'2" my BMI is 60. At the overestimate weight (480) and 6'2" my BMI is 61.6. These are both above 40, the cutoff for morbid obesity.
At the lowball BMR, I will have a 3000 calorie deficit per day which translates to 0.857 pounds per day or 6 pounds per week. At the higher BMR, I would have a 3700 calorie deficit = 1.06 pounds per day = 7.4 pounds per week.
Obviously, if this translates into weight loss (or "wait loss") these numbers will change rapidly.
I need to get to 311 to be classified as obese (39.9) and 233 to be classified as merely overweight (29.9) and 194 to be classified as normal (24.9). For the record that's 78 pounds to get from obese to overweight and 39 pounds to get from overweight to normal
So that is 169 pounds -> 247 -> 286 from the overestimate
And 156.8 pounds -> 234.8 -> 273.8 from the doctor weight.
The slow weight loss of 6 pounds per week makes that
28 weeks -> 41 (+13) -> 48 (+7)
26 weeks -> 39 (+13) -> 46 (+7)
The fast weight loss of 7.4 pounds per week:
23 weeks -> 33 (+10) -> 49 (+6)
21 weeks -> 32 (+11) -> 37 (+5)
So that is a long time away. First I have to get back on the scale. That is 440. 40 pounds to lose from the overestimate, which would be 5.4 weeks at the fast weight and 6.6 weeks at the slow rate.
If I am 467.8, it is 27.8 pounds to lose. That is 3.7 weeks at the fast rate and 4.6 weeks at the slow rate.
Wow. A month to go before I am on the scale, even at the low weight. I will begin to check my weight 3 weeks out from now. That is 9/14.
Potato diet is supposed to end in 2 weeks, 9/7. Maybe I will measure myself then.
I am still hungry after 5 potatoes.
I got another potato.
